Mayor Sylvester Turner Presented The City of Houston Recognition to Houston Karachi Sister City Association (HKSCA) for receiving the Sister Cities International Award for Arts & Culture 2017 & for the Association’s commitment to promoting peace, mutual respect, understanding and cooperation displays its dedication to creating a better future for all. The Mayors Recognition was received by the Consul General Aisha Farooqui of Pakistan, HKSCA President Muhammad Saeed Sheikh, Executive Board members Cristal Montañéz & Azam Akhtar.

While addressing the occasion Consul General Aisha Farooqui of Pakistan extended Invitation to the Mayor to Visit Karachi, Pakistan in 2018 which Mayor Turner Graciously accepted. President sheikh informed the Mayor that this is the third time in the last six years the HKSCA has won SCI Innovation Awards. President Saeed Sheikh also Congratulated the Consulate General of Pakistan in Houston, Mr. S. Javaid Anwar Chief Patron, Cultural Event Sponsor Amir Makhani & membership of HKSCA for receiving this distinct honor. Further to pay gratitude Consul General Farooqui presented an book on Pakistan’s Arts & Culture and President Sheikh presented traditional Ajrak & Topi to the Mayor.

The SCI Innovation Award recognizes the accomplishments of outstanding community and individual Sister City programs.
