Schools of Houston and Karachi signed a memorandum in promotion of cultural, educational, economic relationship and coordination between them.
The Houston Karachi sister City Association’s has been putting lot of efforts in promotion of cultural, educational and economic relationship between two cities.
The President of Houston Karachi Sister City Association Muhammad Saeed Sheikh, Executive Director iEARN Pakistan Farah Kamal and Principal of Houston Academy of International studies Melissa Jacobs Thibaut signed a memorandum in promotion of these ties and for better coordination between Karachi and Houston schools.
This agreement will tie Habib Boys and Girls schools of Karachi and Houston Academy of International studies to be able to work on joint projects using modern technology. This will encourage students and teachers from both cities to travel each other’s country to work on joint projects in better and coordinated way.
Addressing the on the occasion, Farah Kamal said that her organization had initiated similar program with Spain to facilitate and introduce students from Karachi to students of other countries in the world. This effort will result in enhanced capacity on issue resolutions for Karachi students and can add to their potential with inherent local values and traditions.
Equal opportunities are provided to rich and poor students in this program, where several poor households have seen a major change in their lives through this program.
Houston Karachi sister city President Mohammad Saeed Sheikh, while stating the aims of his organization, said that his group is striving to boost the educational, economic and cultural relations between Houston and Karachi. He expressed his hope of gaining positive results in future from these efforts.
He thanked CEO of Midland Energy, Javed Anwar for sponsoring the tour of the delegation from Pakistan and very specially recognized the efforts of Vice President Sister Cities of Houston David Goodman for initiating the project.
The memorandum signing ceremony was also attended by Houston’s Mayor representative, council liaison William Paul Thomas and Councilman Andrew Brick’s Chief of staff Sandra Stretchen, Mayor’s office of International Affairs City of Houston Terence O’Neill, Mayors office of Education Initiative, Mark Cueva and the Dean of Administration of Houston Institute of International Studies Ms Devaney, Kate .
The ceremony was also attended by Cristal Montinez, Nurgis Fatima, Zaki Mirza, Rauf Khan, Mariam Issa, Matloob Khan, Ilyas Choudry, Zafar Khan and other community leaders and notables.
Later Farah Kamal and visiting delegation was given a tour of the school campus.
