HKSCA RESPONSE TO HURRICANE HARVEY “Alliance of Hurricane Harvey Disaster Relief Efforts”

When the Unparalleled Flooding in the Fourth Largest Metropolis of USA Houston occurred Pakistani & other Communities jointly started relief efforts under “Alliance of Hurricane Harvey Disaster Relief Efforts” which was Coordinated by Houston Karachi Sister City Association and Supported by an initial generous In Kind donation of $ 50,000/- by Mr. S. Javaid Anwar( Tahira Khatoon Fund), Hanmi Bank, Amir Makhani & friends of Dallas, Sajid Hussain ( Curve Hospitality) and many others.

Alliance is a United Collaborative of Consulate General of Pakistan in Houston, and Community Organizations including APPNA South Texas Chapter, Al Noor Society, Bangladesh Association of Greater Houston, Houston Karachi Sister City Association, House of Charity, Hashoo Foundation, Islamic Society of Greater Houston, Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA- Relief), Ibne Sina Foundation, Pakistan Association of Greater Houston (PAGH), Pakistan Chamber of Commerce (PCC-USA) and many others.

The Alliance until now successfully Distributed in Coordination with City of Houston & Congressional Members Sheila Jackson Lee and Al Green Daily necessity items worth more then $250,000/-which includes food packages which has grocery for two weeks for a family of four in all around the town, including Pakistan Center and ISGH Shelters. Also supply of Blankets, Towels, Clothes, Diapers, Hygiene kits, Cleaning Items buckets, Clothes, and many other daily needs items are in the distribution process to many Churches, NRG Shelter, Neighborhoods, Apartment complex, Community Centers and Red Cross.

Alliance efforts are helping more then 10,000/- people in Houston and Beaumont.

Alliance is also helping partner organizations initiatives which includes donation of $ 30,000/- to US- Muslim Organization’s Harvey Relief Fund under ISGH (A United Effort for Mayor Houston Harvey Relief Fund ), $10,000/- to ICNA Relief fund for their ongoing Homes Cleaning Drive.

The second phase of Alliance Efforts is underway and helping the families in their resettling process by providing home furnishing Packages.
