Houston-Karachi Sister City Association Joins UHPA Scholarship Program
The Houston-Karachi Sister City Association (HKSCA) was proud to join the University of Houston Pakistani Alumni Network (UHPA) Scholarship Program through the sponsorship of five scholarships at the Inaugural Scholarship Reception on September 26 — a milestone event celebrating student achievement and community generosity.
The HKSCA played a key role in supporting this vision, which is helping bring alumni, students, and donors together for a stronger future.
A special recognition goes to S. Javaid Anwar, whose generosity inspired the launch and awarded five S. Javaid Anwar Scholarships and the Houston-Karachi Sister City Association Scholarships for the undergraduate students.
Through this program, five scholarships were awarded this year, alongside contributions from other valued donors including Hassan Ali Dhanani, An-Nisa’s, Ashfaq & Sadaf Wadiwala, Literacy in Houston, and HKSCA itself.
Together, this collective effort resulted in 14 scholarships awarded and two new endowments established, ensuring continued support to empower students for years to come.
HKSCA members joining the occasion included:
Muhammad Saeed Sheikh (President); Board of Directors: Syed Nayyar Izfar, Azam Akhtar, and Ilyas Chaudry; Members: Dr. Yaqoob Shaikh, Sameer Khan, and Mahmood Ahmed.
The evening reflected HKSCA’s ongoing mission to strengthen educational, cultural, and community ties between Houston and Karachi while investing in the success of future generations.
Congratulations and appreciate the leadership of Kamran Riaz and all Board of Directors for implementing this initiative.
