PAKISTAN FEATURED AT SISTER CITIES OF HOUSTON 10TH NETWORKING
Pakistan Featured at the Grand Networking Dinner of the Houston Sister City Association presented by Houston Karachi Sister City Association:
“Pakistan has a rich heritage and has always played critical role in the world affairs”: Honorable Consul General of Pakistan in Houston Afzaal Mahmood :
HOUSTON (Our Special Correspondent): “I want to visit Pakistan to see the beautiful scenic mountains, valleys, lakes, and glaciers’”. These were the remarks of many guests at the 10th Networking Dinner of the Sister Cities Association of Houston (SCH), as they featured Pakistan on this occasion.
Programs started with salutation remarks by Harry Gee, President of SCH; recognition of special guests by Emcee of the event David Godwin, Vice President of SCH; and gratitude annotations by Muhammad Saeed Sheikh, President of the Houston-Karachi Sister City Association (HKSCA).
Honorable Consul General of Pakistan Afzaal Mahmood was the Guest of Honor on this occasion. In a comprehensive discourse, he narrated this history of the region in which Pakistan exists from Before Christ till today; the crucial role played by Pakistan in world affairs; the strategic location & significance of Pakistan for the whole world; the struggles & wars with India Pakistan has gone through; the trade & commerce reforms in Pakistan making the country a lucrative place for investment & business; the efforts which are bearing good fruits in terms of security & safety situation having improved considerably and making it easier & safer for people to travel; the recent frequent visits to Pakistan by world leaders & big businesses; business opportunities in the fields of energy, sports & surgical goods, food items, and much more. In his talk, Honorable Afzaal Mahmood touched almost every topic and aspect of Pakistan.
Before Honorable Consul General’s presentation, an excellent documentary of Pakistan was shown; about the ancient & modern history, geography, trade & business, sports & excursion, scenic places for tourists, as well as cultural, good, educational, heritage of Pakistan. “I did not know earlier. I am dazzled to see this wonderful documentary of Pakistan to learn the length & breath of Pakistan. I am amazed by the fact that Pakistan has all the different seasons, different landscapes from deserts to green agricultural fields to valleys to rivers to mountainous regions to glaciers.” Exclaimed a few others, as they discussed this documentary about Pakistan.
Host of the event was President of HKSCA Muhammad Saeed Sheikh, and his team including Lina Cornith (Chairperson of SCH Networking Dinner Series), Cristal Montanez, Vice President of SCH David Godwin (also Emcee of the Event), Haroon Moughal, Zafar Khan, and Farooq & Asma Khan (at whose picturesque Taj Restaurant this event was held).
Patron of this event as always for several other community events was S. Javaid Anwar, CEO of Midland Energy.
Event was attended by more than 10 heads of diplomatic mission Which includes Turkey, Qatar, Germany, Korea, Angola, Costa Rica, Indonesia, Spain, & chairpersons of Sister Cities Associations; many business & community leaders; local community & international media personnel;visiting delegation of 5 Pakistani electronic, social, and print media personalities’; and many other dignitaries which includes Tahir Javed, Amir Makhani, M.J.Khan, Haroon Sheikh, Ghulam Bombaywala, Nomi Husain, Sajjad Barki, Waseem Akhtar, Gul Fraz Khan, Sam Merchant, Sam Rukh, and Khalid Khan.
